Dr. Uren is an associate professor of emergency medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School, where he serves as core faculty for the residency program. In addition to his clinical and educator roles, Dr. Uren is actively involved in organized medicine and health policy advocacy.

He is a past president of the Michigan College of Emergency Physicians (MCEP) and a past chair and current member of both the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Federal Government Affairs Committee and the ACEP State Legislative and Regulatory Committee. He also serves as the Michigan lead for the ACEP 911 Legislative Network for grassroots advocacy.

In addition to organized emergency medicine roles, Dr. Uren also serves as the Vice Chair of the Michigan State Medical Society Board of Directors.

Dr. Uren also serves in a governor’s appointed role as the chair of the Michigan Pharmaceutical and Therapeutics Committee, a group of six physicians and five pharmacists that advise the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on the outpatient Medicaid formulary.
